The hurricane juicer was designed specifically to juice wheatgrass and barleygrass, but it will juice other fruits and vegetables, though not as efficiently as grasses. It does a poor job with carrots or other very hard vegetables, but if you shred the carrots beforehand, it do an adequate job on them. The hurricane is a rock solid juicer. Best Hand-Operated Wheatgrass Juicer Available on the marketBest Hand-Operated Wheatgrass Juicer available.

I’ve been growing and juicing my own Wheatgrass now, for over 3 years. I started with a hand-operated juicer called the “Healthy Juicer” which was made of tough Polycarbonate (Lexan) which is practically indestructible. After using it for almost a year, the auger broke in half, making it useless. The company promptly replaced the broken auger for free. After another year, the new auger broke again. Instead of replacing it again, I shopped around for the best hand-operated wheatgrass juicer I could find…I wanted something stronger…something that would last…I found it with the Hurricane! This Wheatgrass Juicer is really heavy-duty! I weighs several pounds and is made of stainless steel. It juices my wheatgrass quicker and yields more juice with drier pulp. Clean-up is amazingly fast and easy. The company I bought it from advertised it as: “It has just a few parts to wash and assemble, it will never rust, and it will last you a lifetime. The Hurricane Stainless Steel Wheatgrass Juicer is the best manual juicer on earth.” After using it for 14 months, I must say that I agree! The Best Manual Juicer On Earth! I can’t imagine this juicer breaking!
The only 2 issues one might have are:
1) You need more area than the lip of a kitchen countertop to attach it to your counter…I open my cabinet mounted dishwasher door to access enough countertop lip to securely attach & tighten the Hurricane. If you don’t have enough “lip” to attach it, you will not be able to use it without risking it loosening up and falling off while cranking. Both the top and bottom contact points must be fully and completely attached and in contact with whatever you tighten the Hurricane to.
2) The crank handle merely slips on the end of the auger, (which is very efficient), but can fall off if you let it back off counterclockwise a bit or dangle in the wrong position, after cranking…it won’t fall off while cranking and as long as you leave the handle resting anywhere between the 1:00 and 6:00 position, (after cranking in a clockwise direction), there is no risk of the handle falling off. Counterclockwise motion is used to remove the handle from the auger and you only need a little bit of rotation for it to come off.
That‘s it! These 2 minor issues really aren‘t a big deal at all and this Hurricane Juicer is like the “King“ of all juicers! I‘m glad I found it and bought it. I use it once a day, every day to juice 2-3 ounces of Wheatgrass Juice and not only has it never failed me, it shows no signs or indications that it ever will. You won't be disappointedI own a Champion which I have had for years. Then I found out about wheatgrass from a friend, but the Champion won't juice wheatgrass. I didn't want to invest in another expensive machine. After much research, I purchased the Hurricane. It is fantastic! It is not quite as easy to crank as the videos make it out to be, but it is not that hard either. It does a great job with wheatgrass, and a better job than the Champion with leafy greens. I have not found anything that the Hurricane won't juice, and have used apples, carrots, parsnips, and beets. The Hurricane does not extract juice from hard produce (carrots and beets) as well as the Champion, but it is good enough. The Hurricane is a delight to use and extremely easy to clean. The machine is tough and I am very happy with my purchase. I can't imagine anything ever breaking, and there is nothing to wear out. I haven't used my Champion since I got the Hurricane. Highly RecommendedBefore we bought the Hurricane we tried the Jack LaLanne Juicer, and were extremely disappointed in it. The Hurricane rates 5 Stars for my household. The hurricane is easy to set up and juices extremely well. The pulp is dry and easy to clean up (Helpful Hint! Sometimes I save the pulp and add it to soups and other meals). I like this juicer. It is high-quality stainless and easy to clean. One tip: I saw a youtube video where a guy demonstrated twisting the grass into a ball, then stuffing it into the juicer (with the tamper-thing that comes with the juicer) while turning the handle. I found that juicing this way was WAY faster and more efficient, with the pulp very dry, compared to just setting the grass in straight like the picture shows.
