Best Option for Microgreens

Rating:
Pros:
Cons:
I have tried both types of pads for Microgreens and prefer this one because it is organic and degradable, allowing me to compost the root mass once harvested. Both types of pad produce equal crops. Since I have an outdoor organic garden as well, it would be a real waste of resources not to be able to compost. This compost builds up fast and over the course of a year there is a big pile of compost that I would not have otherwise. This saves me money as well.

Great for wheatgrass

Rating:
Pros:
• quality
• excellent for wg
• compostable
Cons:
• fragile
• not for microgreens

These micromats, although fragile, are perfect for growing wheatgrass. I would not encourage using them for microgreens because the root mass does not hold the mat together when trying to lift out the 1020 tray of microgreens.

Wheatgrass, on the other hand, thrives when using this mat. The mats seem to be too small for the tray bottoms but the best way to manage that is to spritz the mats with water. This starts the expansion and the mat will reach the sides of the tray. Do not try to adjust the mats once wet. The fall apart like wet tissue paper.

I am very pleased with the micromats after using them for 6 months to grow wheatgrass. I will continue to buy this product.

Great Organic Medium, but...

Rating:
Pros:
Cons:

Great organic medium, but much too fragile when wet (once they are wet you cannot touch them at all for any kind of adjustment) and they are undersized approximately 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches overall on the length. The length is a problem since some seeds inevitably roll into the end spaces and are wasted. With a little bit of correcting they would be a 5 star product. :)
